Bin Yu

Adjunct Staff, Instructor of Piano

Born in South Korea in 1991, Bin began studying music at age five, and attended at Seoul Arts High School, studying with Dr. Sun-Kyung Lee. She received her Bachelor of Music degree with Aviram Reichert at Seoul National University, and currently studies with Carl Cranmer at West Chester University of Pennsylvania in the United States.

Bin won 1st prize in the MTNA Pennsylvania State Competition and Honorable Mention at the MTNA Eastern Division Competition. She has performed with the Jeon-Ju Symphony Orchestra and the Festival Symphony Orchestra, and has performed recitals at Mozart Hall and Seoul National University Concert Hall in South Korea. She has attended several music festivals, including Yeon Eum Music Festival in South Korea, Music in the Mountains in Nevada City, California and the Tel-Hai International Piano Master Classes in Israel, where she won the Marina Bondarenko Memorial Prize. She has performed in Masterclasses with pianists Menahem Pressler, Boaz Sharon, Richard Braun, Jon Nakamatsu and Ann Schein. She is currently in a graduate program at the West Chester University of Pennsylvania on full scholarship and stipend.

Bin enjoys jazz music, black coffee, and a fine wine. She finds great relaxation in hiking and swimming.
