Instructor of Strings & Piano
Allison Moore is a double bass player (classical and jazz) and an orchestra teacher at Walker Upper Elementary School. She loves teaching beginning and intermediate string players and pianists, as well as double bass players of all levels. One of her favorite aspects of teaching is finding the “thing” about music that makes each individual student excited to learn. Whether it’s learning a particular piece, working on a composition project, or exploring a new genre of music, tailoring lessons to meet the needs of each unique student is what makes her job joyful. She’s also passionate about helping kids develop the skill of deliberate practice, which they can use in their musical studies and countless other areas of their lives.
Allison graduated from St. Olaf College in 2019 with a degree in music education and a concentration in neuroscience. In her spare time, she loves to cook, run, read, and spend time with loved ones. She is thrilled to be back in Charlottesville (her hometown) and working at the MEC!
